You must complete the Health and Safety Touchscreen Test and since July 2014 you also must complete and pass a CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course or a IOSH Working Safely Course.

It can be and often is difficult to identify asbestos, as it usually is mixed with other materials, eg. Concrete. The HSE asbestos image gallery shows a number of common materials that contain asbestos, which will help you to identify asbestos in buildings. IF IN DOUBT LEAVE IT ALONE AND CALL YOUR SUPERVISOR.
