new legislation and best practice to bring candidates up-to-date with the latest health and safety developments.

Benefits of holding the SMSTS Certificate

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Certificate is one of the most widely regarded qualifications for site managers. Many employers insist that all their site managers hold the certificate.

The SMSTS scheme helps site managers and supervisors to:

Why choose SMSTS?

An SMSTS qualification helps in a number of other ways. It gives Site Managers, Agents and Supervisors the knowledge they need to prepare method statements, risk assessments and all the other requirements of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.  And because they are better equipped to identify potential hazards on site, their site is safer and more efficient.

The course is designed to be adapted to the needs of each individual to make sure they learn what’s useful to them.

What does the course cover?

It trains each individual in the essential points of Health and Safety and shows them how to measure Health and Safety performance on their own site.

At the end of the course, individuals have to pass a multiple-choice test, which qualifies them for the Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate.

This certificate expires every five years.  Before the certificate expires, holders have to sit a two-day refresher course to renew their qualification for a further five years. This course brings them up-to-date with recent developments in construction legislation and health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.
